UPDATE!

Jill and I had a quiet but very nice Thanksgiving at home.  Her brother went to be with family, but brought back leftovers. The last treatment Jill had was 6 of 12.  1/2 way there.  The Neuropathy (tingling hands and feet) not as intense after this last treatment, but the symptoms are lasting longer.  The worst symptom after the last 2 treatments was pain in the stomach from the chemo drugs.   All the medicine in the world and this past Sunday we tried Peppermint tea. Settled her stomach completely and she started feeling hungry and eating much better. Peppermint?  Prayer?  Prayers that caused wisdom to try Peppermint?  GIving Him the glory.  Considering Jill was down another 2 pounds, this is good news.  Even the doctor could see that this last round beat her up pretty good.  Jill is weary of the constant down time and asks frequently if she can stop doing the chemo.  Continued prayers are much appreciated.  Blessings to you and all out there who are continuing to ask how she is, send cards and pray.

September 28, 2015

Last Monday was the 1st round of chemo.

"We" certainly had our good days and bad. We have learned that being nauseous all day, but keeping food down is what's known as a good day. Praise God, over the last 4 days - each day is better.

Blood sugar levels are out of whack. Prayers for a diet that contains food Jill likes, high in protein, low in sugars that will help her put weight on.

Sound impossible? Not for the God I serve. (Jill's dad)

Tim, Jill's dad writes on September 18th: Jill had her surgery today to have the port put in. The surgery went well. Rough day for her. Having some pain and got very nauseous this afternoon. Legitimately - complained about being stuck again. Doing better this evening.

Today is the first day Jill felt comfortable walking in the house without using the walker.

She had her appointment with the oncologist on Monday.  She is scheduled for surgery on September 17th to have the port put in and her first day of chemo is scheduled for Monday September 21st.

We are seeing smiles on a more consistent basis.

Although we haven't declared open season on visiting, she has enjoyed the visits she has had.

Tim writes: 'Jill had her follow up appointment today with the surgeon.  Said everything looked good.  Just wants her to push more fluids. Jill said she thought he was just going to look, not poke.  Appointment with oncologist is now set for Monday August 31 and 2nd follow up with surgeons is September 11th.'

'“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”'

Thursday August 13th

"Updates for today- (from her dad) She is still sleeping most of the time, still not up to visitors,  Still on liquids and at best - maybe 3-4 ounces total at each meal.  She did get up for a walk twice today - 20 feet in each direction. Twice.  That's 80 feet.

Surgeon said to her  "If you can smile - you can go home today" - hard to explain the look on Jill's face, but obviously she didn't go home. It definitely was not a smile. Later, I actually did catch a glimpse of a smile - twice.

She actually asked me "when can I go home".  The surgeon did say MAYBE this weekend."

Update via Tim Redeker (her dad):

'Sleeping most of the day, but resting comfortably. five spoonfuls of chicken broth this morning but didn't want anymore and fell back asleep again. Same at lunch. Just had her eyes open for a minute. Long enough to tell me she didn't want anything else to eat and back asleep again.  Surgeon was in this morning. Said this was understandable considering the anesthesia they gave her and her size'

Still sleeping most of the time. A little more discomfort this morning. They took catheter out, so she's afraid to drink because she doesn't want to get up to go to the bathroom. She doesn't want to have to talk.  Thus the start of another day the Lord has given us.   And He is good!

Today I enjoyed relaxing Saturday with family. I spent the day putting together
a book for the inspiring cards that I have been getting from family and friends!!

I smile and cry at the same time when I read what people have put in each card.
WoW! I feel loved each day...whether it by a friend texting me, Facebook post or
by reading a card that I get in the mail.

The gift that people have given to me have been so Sweet! A prayer shawl
from a friends mom was made with lots of love from the church.

Another blanket that I got from a lady that works at my dad companies
was a surprise, but I greatly am grateful for time she put in to make the beautiful
blanket!

Please pray for our dear sister in Christ, Jillian Redeker

Jill's writes: 'On August 5th. I had another Colonoscopy and an Ultrasound. Then I met with two of the Doctors to talk about the surgery procedures and about chemotherapy treatments after my surgery. I have stage 3 Cancer and its inside the wall of my colon and on my lymph node. They found two on my liver. Monday (August 10th) is my Surgery @7:30am -12:00. A round of chemotherapy will start within 6 weeks after surgery. 12 treatments 1-every other week. 2 medications by IV followed by 46 hours of medication by pump.

There is 1 (spot) on my liver. On my lymph nodes they found it. For the past 2 weeks I've been overwhelmed. I'm taking it one day at time. A song that I will be listening to a lot is Just Be Held by Casting Crowns. I definitely feel the love from friends and family, so I know I'm not alone, even though it may seem like it sometimes. I greatly appreciate your prayers and support!  With love / Jillian.'
